SESD Hosts Northshore Education Consortium Tour
On Friday, September 6, 2024, SESD invited the Northshore Education Consortium, the largest provider of special education programs for children with emotional, behavioral, and developmental disabilities on the North Shore, to bring twenty-two students and eight special education teachers to our facility for a presentation and a plant tour.
Gathered in our Board Room, the students were introduced to our staff, and we went through some background on ‘Who We Are’ and ‘What We Do’ with the remainder of the team leading an exercise on ‘How You Can Help’ and the importance of only flushing the ‘Three P’s’. Students were asked to guess which one of the containers would break down in the pipes after you flush it and had a chance to see the difference between normal toilet paper, a wet wipe, a napkin, and a paper towel. They then had the opportunity to see the Influent and Effluent samples from the Laboratory.
From there, a tour of our Secondary Effluent building to learn more about the process of discharging into Salem Sound. Everyone was laughing, learning, and asking great questions. We look forward to partnering with them again soon. For more information on the programs offered by Northshore Education Consortium, please visit their website: https://www.nsedu.org/.
